How To Fix Open Proxy Error in Instagram?

If you’re using the Open proxy Instagram, you may be experiencing problems with your account.

If you use the Open proxy Instagram, you’ll have trouble accessing your account because Instagram will not recognize your IP address.

You’ll also have a hard time accessing the Instagram app on your phone.

Before fixing the open proxy error in Instagram, we need to know what Instagram open proxy means?

That means that Instagram has blacklisted your IP address (so-called open proxy) because Instagram thinks that your IP address has been used with multiple bad accounts in the past.

Open proxies are websites that allow anyone to access their account without logging in.

Most social media sites offer open proxy links that proxy can use to bypass any restrictions preventing users from viewing content.

Third-party companies often provide these links, but they’re also easily found online.

There are even websites that offer open proxy accounts to anyone for free.

And these free proxies are most of the time abused and are not secure because your account can be hacked, and hackers can steal your identity.

That is the reason Instagram consider them bad and blacklists them.

The fix for open proxy error in Instagram:

  1. If your ISP provides dynamic IP, restart your router and get a new IP address.
  2. Then clear the browser cookies (if you are using the browser) OR clear the Instagram app cache (if you are using the Instagram app).

Now access your Instagram account again, and hopefully, it will work now!

Note: If you have to use Instagram with a proxy or a VPN for some reason, you should buy Instagram Proxy from a reliable provider or buy a VPN suitable for Instagram and then use it.

How To Get Around A Proxy Server?

It can be difficult to access websites that are blocked. Some sites require that users have an IP address associated with their ISP. That means users must use a proxy server to bypass the IP filter.

In some countries, the government has set up filters to block access to certain websites. Most people use a proxy server when accessing those blocked websites.

The proxy server is a network device that allows users to access a different IP address than their own.

While using a proxy server, your computer sends all your internet requests through a third party. That means that the proxy server will encrypt your data.

Most proxy servers are free and available to anyone. However, there are also paid options.

To use a proxy server, you must first configure your browser to use the proxy server.

If you are using a paid proxy, you must authenticate it first by IP-Authorization method or by Username and Password authorization.

Free proxies don’t require authorization at all.

Note: Using a proxy server is a good way to protect your identity online. It’s also useful for staying anonymous while browsing the internet.

Many proxy websites are offering free proxy server lists. We’ll mention a few here, but as a precaution!

Please be informed that any free proxy server list can be:

  • Slow
  • Unstable
  • Not secure, and reliable

Because anyone can use them for any purpose (good or bad).

There are 99% chances that these free proxy server lists have already been ruined before reaching you.

In other words, you are paying for these free proxies by giving away your personal details, identity, and personal data.

Therefore, it is recommended that you should not use the free online HTTP proxy server lists for your online transactions, account logins, and other purposes.

HTTPS To HTTP Proxy

HTTPS to HTTP Proxy is also known as Reverse Proxy.

What is a reverse proxy?

reverse-proxy-diagram--and-benefits
Reverse proxy diagram and benefits

A reverse proxy is a type of proxy server that requests a network resource on behalf of a client from one or more destination servers.

Unlike a forward proxy reverse proxy does not require any client-side configuration, and all network requests are handled transparently by the reverse proxy.

Why use a reverse proxy?

The Reverse Proxy adds an extra layer of security to your Internet-facing services.

Secondly, it will allow you to stream content from your internal network services to internet-based users without storing any content.

That can be especially important for those organizations who are subject to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX), or other compliance requirements.

Lastly, it will add high availability and load balancing to your mission-critical network services.

How does reverse proxy work?

The reverse proxy pipes the network output stream from the client to the destination server and the output stream from the destination service is piped by the reverse proxy back to the client input stream.

how-does-reverse_proxy_work-infographic
How does reverse proxy work.

The client initiates a connection to the target reverse proxy service at the start. That could be any network service you designate, such as FTP, HTTP, or SSH.

Then the reverse proxy accepts the client connection while simultaneously opening a connection to the destination service on behalf of the client.

That creates a completely transparent connection between the client and the destination service.

How do I set up a Reverse Proxy?

You must first download and install reverse proxy software to set up a reverse proxy.

Along with other software used to configure a reverse proxy, JSCAPE MFT Gateway is a platform-independent reverse proxy server with installers for all platforms, including Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS.

It works the same way as HTTP to HTTPS Proxy, except it will convert your HTTPS traffic to HTTP traffic.

That is extremely useful if you have a load balancer or proxy server which only supports HTTP and not HTTPS.

Is Proxy Server A Firewall?

A proxy server is not a firewall, but a proxy can use to prevent access to certain websites.

For better understanding and to answer this question, here are the definitions of Firewall and Proxy server:

What is Firewall?

A firewall is a network security device that protects your computer against outside threats, such as viruses, malware, and spyware.

A firewall is also a software application designed to inspect and block traffic based on rules.

What is Proxy Server?

A proxy server is a computer that acts as an intermediary between the Internet and your computer.

The proxy server allows your computer to access the Internet through the proxy server while bypassing your ISP restrictions.

Further to that, a proxy server is a server that serves as a gateway to the World Wide Web. It allows you to surf the Internet anonymously.

Hopefully, this explains the difference between the firewall and proxy server and proves that a proxy server is not a firewall!

Is Proxy Server A Vpn?

The proxy server is not a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

You can use a proxy server to mask your address. A proxy server doesn’t do things like encrypting the data you send and receive.

It would be pointless to connect to a website or app through a proxy server if you already use a VPN.

Linux Socks Proxy Server

Socks is an abbreviation for a socket connection, a network protocol that allows a computer to communicate over a network.

A SOCKS proxy server is a program that enables a user to use the Internet anonymously.

When using a SOCKS proxy server, a user will be able to access websites blocked by their internet service provider or by the firewall on their computer.

Linux Socks Proxy Server is a software tool that allows users to run their proxy server.

Benefits of Socks Proxy Server

Socks proxy servers are very useful for those who wish to use the Internet anonymously, such as:

  • Users who want to access websites that are blocked by their Internet Service Provider (ISP) or by their Internet firewall
  • Users who want to bypass geographic restrictions on websites
  • Users who want to prevent others from spying on their activities
  • Users who want to access sites that are restricted by their school or workplace
  • Users who want to use public Wi-Fi networks

Mt5 Asked For Proxy Server During Installation

You won’t be facing this issue if you have downloaded Meta Trader before April 20, 2022. But if you have downloaded it after that date, then it can happen, and here is the workaround to this issue:

  • You should install the version before April 20, 2022. You don’t face any issues in that, and no difference in the meta trader functionality compared to the versions after April 20, 2022.
  • You can download https://vfxwelcome.jay.id/ (If it is still available there).
  • Update your Windows 10 and then reinstall MT5.
  • If any of the above solutions don’t work for you, you should contact Meta Trader support.

Nginx As Forward Proxy

Mostly Nginx is used as a load balancer, reverse proxy (mainly), and HTTP cache. But can also be used as a forward proxy.

The problem is that Nginx doesn’t work perfectly with secure HTTPS connections. Therefore, it has difficulty encrypting HTTPS traffic. This issue is further explained on StackOverflow.

Fortunately, there is a solution to these issues available and can be resolved with ngx_http_proxy_connect_module.

When Nginx is compiled along with the module mentioned above, the forward proxy will smoothly work with SSL/HTTPS connections.

Nginx Http2 Reverse Proxy

Here is how to enable HTTP2 protocol in Nginx:

  1. Open nginx.conf file (the default location is: /etc/nginx/nginx.conf)
  2. Please scroll down to where it is written:
    listen [::]:443 SSL...
  3. Replace the above text with:
    listen [::]:443 SSL http2 ....

    (don’t add these …., just keep the remaining line as it is!)

  4. After that, scroll down to:
    listen 443 SSL;
  5. Replace it with:
    listen 443 SSL http2;
  6. Save this edited nginx.conf file.
  7. Restart the Nginx service with this command:
    sudo service nginx restart
  8. Done!

Here is how to set up Nginx as a reverse proxy on Linux:

Note: For this explanation, our primary site is bp247.com, and the proxied site is proxied.bp247.com. Let’s proceed!

  1. Update your distribution packages list:
    sudo apt update
  2. Install Nginx (if you haven’t already installed it):
    sudo apt install nginx
  3. Create a virtual host file to configure Nginx for proxy requests for the domains which are hosted on APache:
    sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/bp247.com.conf
  4. For forwarding the requests to Apache, set the Nginx directives by adding these two blocks {server and location}:
    server {

    listen 80;

    index index.php;
    root /var/www/bp247.com/public # fallback for index.php

    location / {
    try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$query_string;
    }location /proxied {
    proxy_pass http://proxied.bp247.com;
    proxy_http_version 1.1;
    proxy_cache_bypass $http_upgrade;

    # Proxy headers

    proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade;
    proxy_set_header Connection "upgrade";
    proxy_set_header Host $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Host $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Port $server_port;

    #Proxy timeouts
    proxy_connect_timeout 60s;
    proxy_send_timeout 60s;
    proxy_read_timeout 60s;

    }

    Note: Please make sure (before making these changes to the nginx.conf file) that you have already created the proxied website that is proxied.bp247.com (in this example). Learn in detail about all the reverse proxy directives.

  5. Save and activate this new virtual host file. To do that, you’ll have to create a symlink for the file named bp247.com.conf in both of these directories: /etc/nginx/sites-enabled and /etc/nginx/sites-available. To do that, use this command:
    sudo ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/bp247.com.conf /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/bp247.com.conf
  6. Test the Nginx service for any configuration issues:
    sudo nginx -t
  7. Reload the Nginx service for applying the changes that you have made:
    sudo systemctl reload nginx
  8. Done! Your Nginx is now all set up to work as a reverse proxy.

You can test it with the help of the PHP function phpinfo().

To do that, create a PHP file (test.php) and type this in the file:

And save the file in the root folder of your domain (e.g., in bp247.com).

Now open bp247.com/test.php in the browser and see if it’s working.

Nginx Reverse Proxy Multiple Servers

Here is an example code for nginx.conf file about how to configure Nginx as a reverse proxy for multiple servers:

(add/edit your nginx.conf file with the following code. DO REPLACE the “Domain”, “SubDomain” and the “proxy_pass” addresses with your own details.)

@ReverseProxy:/etc/nginx/sites-enabled$ cat reverseproxy
server {
    server_name MyDOMAIN.com;
    # app1 reverse proxy follow
    proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
    proxy_set_header Host $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
    proxy_pass http://10.0.3.10:80;
}
server {
    server_name SubDomain.MyDOMAIN.com;
    # For reverse proxy settings of app2, follow this
    location / {
       proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
       proxy_set_header Host $host;
       proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
       proxy_pass http://10.0.2.33:80;
    }
}

Nginx Reverse Proxy Nextcloud

For the following example, it is assumed that you are using a docker container. If you aren’t, then please change the IP details accordingly:

Important Note: If you use Letsencrypt SSL with the default file locations, please use this code: “certbot certonly -d domain.com” to generate the Letsencrypt SSL certificates. Please do remember to stop the Nginx service before generating the SSL certificates.

server {
    listen 80;
    server_name MyDOMAIN.com;
    return 301 https://$server_name$request_uri;
}
server {
    listen 443 SSL;
    server_name MyDOMAIN.com ;
    ssl_certificate /etc/letsencrypt/live/MyDOMAIN.com/fullchain.pem;
    ssl_certificate_key /etc/letsencrypt/live/MyDOMAIN.com/privkey.pem;
    add_header Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains" always;
    ssl_session_cache shared:SSL:10m;
    ssl_protocols TLSv1.2;
    ssl_ciphers 'ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305:ECDHE-RSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256';
    ssl_prefer_server_ciphers on;
    client_max_body_size 2048M;
location / {
proxy_pass http://172.0.0.1:8080;
proxy_set_header    Host $host;
proxy_set_header    X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
proxy_set_header    X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
proxy_set_header    X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;
proxy_read_timeout 300;
}
location /.well-known/carddav {
return 301 $scheme://$host/remote.php/dav;
}
location /.well-known/caldav {
return 301 $scheme://$host/remote.php/dav;
}

After saving the above code to nginx.conf add this to config.php (at this location: /nextcloud/config/config.php).

That will let the nextcloud-instance become familiar with being in a proxy and will help in using the accurate details while generating the URLs:

'trusted_proxies' => ['172.0.0.1'],
'overwritehost'  => 'domain.com',
'overwriteprotocol' => 'https',
'overwritecondaddr' => '^172\.0\.0\.1$',

  11. Done!

Open Source Web Proxy

Open source web proxy is a program that is designed to provide anonymity, security, and speed. It works like a web browser, except that it connects to the Internet through a different computer, which is located in a different location.

This means that the person using the web proxy can browse the Internet without being tracked by their ISP.

It uses a proxy server, which acts as a gateway. This allows you to surf the Internet anonymously.

If you want to browse the Internet anonymously, an open-source web proxy is a good option. However, it’s not very fast.

Proxy Address And Port

The proxy address is the IP address of the proxy server that the computer is using. Proxy Port is the port number that the proxy server is listening to.

The proxy server acts as a middle man. It can read and understand the message from the sender, but it cannot write the message back to the recipient.

Proxy address and port numbers are defined by the individual/team who is creating the proxy server.

For example:

Here is the format of the Proxy address (IP Address and Port Number)

117.10.15.55:8080

In the example above, the Proxy address is: 117.10.15.55 and the Port Number is: 8080

Port numbers can be any number ranging from 0 to 65535

Proxy IP Address List

Proxy IP address lists are used to hide your location from websites. This way, you can browse the internet anonymously.

For example, if you want to access the internet from a country with strict censorship laws, you can use proxy IP addresses. Proxy IP addresses are used to mask your actual IP address.

In most cases, you will need to use proxy IP addresses for your whole internet session.

There are a lot of proxies out there that claim to be the best and fastest proxy for you, but when you actually use them, they just don’t seem to work.

If you want a good proxy that works, you can try this free proxy IP address list.

It’s easy to use, has an extensive list of proxies, and is completely free to use.

Please be informed that free proxies are not secure and aren’t fast. You can also buy a premium shared proxies list at a cheap price.

Proxy Server Blocked Sites

Blocked sites are sites that are blocked by your internet service provider.

Blocked sites are typically blocked because they contain content that is illegal, or that is considered to be inappropriate in your area or the country.

Proxy servers are websites that are used to bypass the blocking caused by your ISP.

Using proxy servers can help you access blocked sites, but it is also inappropriate to use them for any illegal activity or to watch the illegal websites.

There are free and paid proxy servers provider available online that you can use to unblock these websites.

Tor Project is the world-famous example of a free proxy server.

Proxy Server Blocking Internet Access

There can be multiple reasons for proxy servers blocking internet access on your device.

It may be caused because of wrong set up or maybe the proxy server provider has some issue at their end, or maybe your ISP has detected your proxy and isn’t allowing you to access the internet while on the proxy.

Here are some of the methods to check and solve proxy server blocking internet access issues:

Method 1:

  1. Click on the “Start” menu.
  2. Type “Proxy”
  3. Select the first option “Proxy Settings” or “Change Proxy Settings”. That will open a new window.
  4. Scroll down and see if you have entered the proxy server address and port correctly in the “Use proxy server” option.
  5. Click on the “Advanced” button and see that you have entered proxy server details in the relevant type of proxy server. You have to enter proxy details for socks proxies in the socks box and for HTTP in the HTTP box.

Method 2:

Check if you are entering the correct username and password for your proxy server in the proxy settings.

If your proxy server uses IP authentication then you should go to your proxy server provider’s website, login to the client area, and check if you have authorized the correct IP address there.

If it doesn’t work then you should contact your proxy server provider and ask them for support.

Proxy Server Call Of Duty

For playing with international players, the best proxy server for Call Of Duty is a VPN. A VPN encrypts your internet traffic and then routes it through another location.

This is a good way to hide your IP address and make it harder for hackers to track you.

Because VPN protects your personal data, especially if your credit card information is linked to the game’s client.

VPN protects your data from getting leaked through the client. You can also get early access to the game content, that’s not yet available in your region.

More importantly, you can get access to banned games if you live in an area where violent video games are banned.

The fastest VPN for playing COD and any other game is ExpressVPN. It is super easy to set up and use. It requires no technical guide.

It has a unique time-saving feature that tests the download speed and ping for you.

That saves you the time that you might have spent on testing out the servers before jumping into the game.

With this speed test feature, you just select the server with the least bit of latency and move on to your game session.

ExpressVPN is known for its government-grade encryption level.

Therefore, there is absolutely no way for your IP address to be exposed to hackers and DDOS attacks.

You can choose your ExpressVPN Plan} with a 100% moneyback guarantee for 30 days.

In order to play Call of Duty online, you will need to use a proxy server. But that isn’t as safe as a VPN is!

Proxy Server Centos 6/7/8

A centos proxy server is a proxy service that allows users to access restricted websites using another computer or device.

Centos is a community-supported, free, commercial-grade Linux distribution derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

For this guide, we’ll use Squid Proxy Server. Squid is a free and open-source web caching proxy that can save bandwidth, increase speed, and improve privacy.

Squid server can be configured to cache only specific pages and can be set up to block access to certain websites.

It also has built-in security features. It allows users to browse the Internet through a different computer than the one they are using.

Complete Guide: how to install Squid Proxy Server on Centos 6, Contos 7, and Centos 8

Requirements / Prerequisites

  1. The CentOS (CentOS 6, Centos 7, Centos 8) operating system.
  2. Need access to a command-line terminal or window (i.e Ctrl-Alt-T)
  3. The CentOS user account with root access or sudo privileges.
  4. The yum package installer is normally included by default in CentOS.
  5. A common text editor, for example, “vim

Step-1: Install Squid Proxy Server

  1. As we always do, first of all, update the server:
    sudo yum -y update
  2. Now install Squid:
    yum -y install squid
  3. Next, you should start the Squid Proxy Server:
    systemctl start squid
  4. Next, you should enable the Squid Proxy Server for allowing it to start automatically at the boot:
    systemctl enable squid
  5. Now check the status of the squid proxy server whether it is active or not: (You’ll see this written in green if it is active: active (running) )
    systemctl status squid

The squid proxy server is installed and enabled now. You can find the squid proxy configuration file at /etc/squid/squid.conf location.

Step-2: Configure The Squid Proxy Server

Now that we have Squid Proxy Server enabled, we have to configure squid proxy server on Centos 6/7/8 operating system network to route all the traffic through it to access the internet.

  1. Find your CentOS server/device hostname by typing “hostname” in the terminal. You’ll have to copy the hostname anywhere on notepad etc. Because we’ll need it in the coming steps.
  2. Open Squid configuration file in the editor:
    sudo vi /etc/squid/squid.conf
  3. Make your hostname visible. At the start of the squid.conf file type this:
    visible_hostname {type_here_the_hostname_that_you_had_found_in_step_1}
  4. Scroll down to where it’s written “http_port” and set the port number to (you can change it to whatever number you want. But We’ll keep it to default which is 3128.)
    3128
  5. Set the proxy mode to transparent (This mode will restrict squid from changing your requests and responses.) by changing the above to:
    http_port 3128 transparent
  6. Now, go to the text: “http_access deny all” Currently it is denying access for all the traffic. Replace this line with:
    http_access allow all
  7. Save the changes and restart the squid proxy server with the following command:
    sudo systemctl restart squid

The Squid proxy server is now completely configured.

Step-3: Create Access Control List (ACL) Directives in Squid Proxy Server

We are going to add an IP range (can add a single IP address as well) in the squid proxy server configuration file so that the proxy server should act as a gateway for all the traffic that will be passing through allowed IP(s).

Ref: [Squid: ACL configuration directives]

Ref: [Complete list of ACLs]

You can add the IPs list or IP range in the following format in squid.conf file:

acl localnet src

Here is the example code: (use your server’s/device’s IP address. Our is 192.168.0.32)

  1. Type the following in squid.conf file:
    acl localnet src 192.168.0.32

    OR you can specify a range of IPs:

    acl localnet src 192.168.0.32/30
  2. Once you have typed the above lines in squid.conf, save the file, and restart the squid server:
    systemctl restart squid
  3. Done!

Step-4: Configure Squid Client (Test proxy Server Connectivity in the web browser)

Now that we have set up our squid server and it is enabled. We can check if the configuration is working properly or not.

For that, we will set the squid proxy IP address in any web browser (for this example we will do it in Firefox) and see if we can browse the internet or not.

  1. Go to Firefox and then in the menu go to Options -> Network Settings -> Settings
  2. Select “Manual Proxy Configuration
  3. Type your squid proxy IP address: 192.168.0.32 and port: 3128
  4. Click the checkbox saying: Use this proxy server for all protocols
  5. Save by clicking on the “OK” button!

Step-5: Configure Squid Proxy Server Authentication (Username and Password)

For providing extra security to our squid server, now we will add the basic authentication for the squid proxy server. Let’s proceed:

  1. Install httpd-tools:
    sudo yum -y install httpd-tools
  2. Create a file for saving passwords in the squid directory:
    touch /etc/squid/passd
  3. Change the ownership of the file:
    chown squid /etc/squid/passd
  4. Now, we are going to add the user “squid” to the password file “passd” with the help of htpasswd utility: (Please note down your password somewhere safe, because you’ll need it later for accessing your proxy server from the client computer)
    htpasswd /etc/squid/passd squid
  5. When you’ll press enter after the above command, you’ll be asked to enter “New Password“, then type the password and press enter. After that, you’ll be asked again to “Re-type new password“, then type the password again and press enter key. Your password has been saved in the “passd” file.
  6. Now, go to squid.conf and edit it for authentication configuration:
    vi /etc/squid/squid.conf
  7. Type the following lines in the squid.conf file and save it:
    auth_param basic program /usr/lib64/squid/basic_ncsa_auth /etc/squid/passwd
    auth_param basic children 5
    auth_param basic credentialsttl 2 hours
    auth_param basic utf8 on
    auth_param basic realm Please enter your credentials to access this Proxy Server!
    auth_param basic case sensitive on
    acl auth_access proxy_auth REQUIRED
    http_access allow auth_access
  8. Restart Squid and you are all set:
    sudo systemctl restart squid
  9. Now, when you’ll access the proxy server, a pop window will appear and will ask you to enter your username and password to authenticate the squid proxy server!

How to block websites in Squid Proxy Server?

  1. Create a new file in the squid folder. Let’s say at /etc/squid/myblockedsites by using the following command:
    vi /etc/squid/myblockedsites
  2. Now, in this file, type the websites which you want to block. Type one website per line. You don’t have to type the complete website address, you can type just “Facebook” for blocking facebook.com and so on. Save the file, once you are done with adding the sites list to be blocked.
  3. Now, go back to squid.conf file and edit it again, for adding the location of our myblockedsites file in squid configuration:
    sudo vi /etc/squid/squid.conf
  4. Now add the following lines in the configuration file:
    acl myblockedsites dstdomain "/etc/squid/myblockedsites"
    http_access deny myblockedsites
  5. Save the file and restart the squid proxy server. Now try to open the blocked site on your client’s computer and see if it is accessible or not!

Proxy Server Cisco Packet Tracer

Cisco Packet Tracer is a network simulation software designed to help students learn network technology.

It can be used to simulate the operation of a network and learn the basics of network design.

A packet tracer is not a program that can be used for real-world applications.

The main components of a network simulation software are a simulator, a configuration file, and a simulator application.

  • A simulator is a program that simulates a network environment and presents it to the user.
  • A configuration file contains information about the simulated network, including information about the nodes, links, and protocols.
  • A simulator application is a program that runs in the simulator.

If you want to learn how to download, install, and get started, please ask your instructor or sign up for the free Cisco Packet Tracer Course on SkillsForAll.com.

Proxy Server Configuration In Linux

Proxy servers are used to provide access to resources that are not publicly accessible.

They allow you to access websites, applications, and other network services through a local IP address.

There are two types of proxy servers: HTTP proxies and SOCKS proxies.

HTTP proxies

These are used to route traffic from one host to another. They typically operate on port 80 and 443 and provide web access.

They can be used to secure web traffic, for instance, by allowing only certain hosts and/or ports to be accessed.

SOCKS proxies

These proxies operate on port 1080 and are used to connect to a remote server through a tunneling protocol.

They can be used to secure local network traffic by providing a secure connection to remote computers.

Both HTTP and SOCKS proxies operate on a client-server model.

The client is the computer that connects to the proxy server and requests a resource from a remote server.

The proxy server then routes the request to the remote server.

How to configure a proxy server on Linux?

In order to set up a proxy server, you must first install and configure the proxy software on the client.

For this tutorial, we’ll use Squid version 5.

The steps required to configure a proxy server in Linux are as follows:

Step 1: Install the proxy software

The proxy server software can be downloaded from the Internet. However, it is recommended to install the software using the package manager.

  1. To install a package, open a terminal (CTRL + ALT + T) and type the following command:
    sudo apt-get install
  2. The package name can be found by typing:
    apt-cache search
  3. For example, to install the squid proxy server, type:
    sudo apt-get install squid

Step 2: Configure the proxy settings

Once the proxy server software is installed, you need to configure the proxy settings.

  1. To configure the proxy settings, open a terminal and type the following commands:
    sudo vi /etc/squid5/squid.conf
  2. This will open the squid.conf file in the editor.
  3. Add the following lines to the end of the file:
    #ProxyRequests On
    #AllowCONNECT 127.0.0.1:8080
  4. Save the file by pressing CTRL + X and then Y.

Step 3: Start the proxy service

After configuring the proxy settings, you need to start the proxy server.

  1. To start the proxy server, open a terminal and type the following commands:
    sudo service squid5 start

Step 4: Test the proxy

After starting the proxy server, you need to test the proxy to verify that the configuration was successful.

  1. To test the proxy, type the following command in the terminal:
    curl www.google.com

If the proxy server is configured correctly, you should see the web page from Google.

Step 5: Restart the proxy service

  1. To restart the proxy service, open a terminal and type the following command:
    sudo service squid5 restart

Now, you should be able to access Google.com through the proxy server.

Proxy Server Gmail Login

Using a proxy server for Gmail means that you can log in to Gmail without worrying about where you’re logging in from.

After configuring the proxy server in your browser or PC, you just have to enter your email address and password and then you’ll be able to access your Gmail account, without any further verifications (e.g. SMS verification, etc.).

Benefits of using a proxy for Gmail

Here is a list of benefits of using a proxy server for Gmail:

  1. Access your account from anywhere.
  2. You’ll be able to log in to your Gmail account even if you’re traveling.
  3. You’ll be able to access your account from a public place without worrying about someone seeing your original IP address.
  4. You’ll be able to access your account even if you’re using a mobile device in a country where your ISP blocks Gmail.
  5. You’ll be able to access your account from a public computer. For that, just connect your proxy before login into Gmail and then clear browser cookies, and then safely login to Gmail on a public computer.
  6. You’ll be able to access your account from a computer in a different country, in a different state, and in a different city.

Why do I need a proxy server for Gmail Login?

Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Security: The main reason for using a proxy for Gmail is to protect your account from being hacked. Your IP address can be used to identify your location and therefore, your interests. If your IP address is from a country or region that isn’t safe, this information can be sold to third parties. If you’re trying to hide your location, a proxy for Gmail is the best way to do it.
  2. Speed: Using a proxy for Gmail will speed up your Gmail login.

Proxy Server Greyed Out Windows 7/8/10

There are two 100% working methods that we will discuss here to remove the proxy server settings that greyed out the problem in windows 7/8/10.

Proxy Server Hide Me

Hide Me allows you to hide your IP address from anyone who may be monitoring your web activity.

Advantages of using Hide Me

There are two main advantages of using hide.me free proxy:

  1. It gives you the ability to hide your IP address from anyone who may be monitoring your web activity.
  2. It lets you surf the web anonymously.

Disadvantages of using Hide Me

  1. It doesn’t guarantee 100% anonymity.
  2. It’s not a permanent solution.

While Hide-Me does provide you with a temporary solution to your privacy concerns, it doesn’t offer you the guaranteed anonymity you’re looking for.

Hide-Me hides your IP address, but it doesn’t change the fact that your ISP knows exactly where you are at all times.

Even if you use Tor or VPN, your ISP still has your IP address.

Your ISP knows when you log in and out, what websites you visit, and when you access them.

Alternatives of Hide.me

If you’re looking for a more permanent solution to your privacy concerns, there are several alternatives available.

  1. The first is to use Tor.
  2. The third is to use a proxy server.
  3. The second is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

1- Tor

The Tor Project is an open-source project that provides users with a free and anonymous way to access the Internet.

Using Tor will help you avoid being tracked by your ISP. It’s one of the most common free methods used by people who want to remain anonymous online.

To use Tor, you simply need to download the Tor Browser and then configure it.

NOTE: TOR provides a slow browsing speed and it is not 100% safe from hackers!

2- Proxy Server

A proxy server is a program that routes all of your internet traffic through a third-party server.

Using a proxy server will allow you to surf the web without having your ISP know what you’re doing and which websites you are visiting.

Some proxies will require you to use a special username and password, while others will be configured by using the IP authorization method.

Most proxy servers are relatively easy to use, and most of them are free.

But again, the FREE proxies come at a price. Price of the leakage of your personal details/identity.

Here are some of the best proxy servers available for Windows, Mac, and Linux:

  1. BuyProxies247.com (Paid Solution)
  2. Proxify.com (Paid Solution)
  3. PrivateTunnel.com (Paid Solution)

3- VPN

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a technology that allows you to connect to a private network using public networks.

Using a VPN will allow you to surf the web without having your ISP know what you’re doing.

A VPN is a great option if you don’t want your ISP to know what you’re doing online.

Using a VPN is pretty straightforward, but you’ll need to purchase a VPN service and install it on your computer or device.

A VPN is a bit more expensive than a proxy server. But it is more encrypted than a proxy server!

Proxy Server In Java

Let’s learn how to connect through a proxy server in Java. We will be using two methods for connecting our Java application to the proxy server.

  1. JVM-wide: It is an old method and it is configured with system properties. Many developers still use this method.
  2. Proxy Class: This method is handier because, with the help of this method, you can configure your proxy separately for each connection/thread.

The JVM-wide Proxy API method is available since Java SE version 5.0 was introduced. And this old method can be used with Java projects even today.

But it cannot beat the Proxy-Class approach, because it is more customizable and efficient.

System Properties For Java HTTP/HTTPS Proxy Server

Java proxy server configuration offers the following system properties:

  1. proxyHost: Used for defining HTTP proxy server hostname.
  2. proxyPort: Used for defining HTTP proxy server port number. It is an optional property, by default, its value is “80”.
  3. nonProxyHosts: Used for defining available host patterns with pipe-sign-delimiter ( ‘|’ ) for bypassing the proxy. Applies to HTTP and HTTPS handlers.
  4. SocksProxyHost: Used for defining the SOCKS proxy server hostname.
  5. SocksProxyPort: Used for defining the SOCKS proxy server port number.

How to connect through proxy servers in Java

We can connect proxy server with the help of system.setProperty() function:

System.setProperty("http.proxyHost", "127.0.0.1");
System.setProperty("http.proxyPort", "3128");

URL url = new URL(RESOURCE_URL);
URLConnection con = url.openConnection();

We can disconnect proxy server with the help of following command:

System.setProperty("http.proxyHost", null);

Proxy Server Is Refusing Connections Firefox

The most common reasons for connection refusal issues in Firefox can be solved in any of the following ways:

  • Check if your proxy server is configured properly in Firefox.
  • Ask your network administrator about the issue, if you are behind the school/office proxy server/firewall.
  • Check with your proxy provider, if they are having any issues with their servers.
  • Check if you have authorized your proxy server properly with the correct username and password.
  • Check if you have authorized the correct IP address (provided by your ISP) for Authentication of the proxy server.
  • Check your machine for adware, malware, or potentially unwanted program by scanning it.
  • Go to “Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings” and see if you have any bad proxy configured there by mistake. If yes, then remove it!

Proxy Server Keeps Turning On Windows 10

You can try the following solutions if your proxy server keeps turning on even if you turn it off in Windows 10:

  • Try resetting the network adapter. For that, you’ll have to go to device manager and select the active network adapter, and then uninstall it. After that restart your machine and install it again.
  • Check your machine startup applications. There might be an application that is causing the trouble by enabling the proxy server automatically on windows startup. That can be a VPN application most probably, which is connecting to the internet automatically on system boot.

Proxy Server Not Responding

If your proxy server is not responding then you should first check for the following at your end:

  1. Go to your proxy server settings in Windows (Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings) and see if everything is configured properly.
  2. Go to your browser proxy settings and see if everything is properly configured in the web browser.
  3. Check if you have entered the correct username and password for the proxy server.
  4. Check if you have Authenticated the correct IP address (provided by ISP) for activating your proxy server.

If the above options don’t solve the “Not responding problem”, then you should contact your network administrator or the proxies provider from where you have purchased the proxies.

If you are using any free proxy servers then maybe the proxies are dead by the time you are activating them in your machine.

Proxy Server Open Source

Here is the list of open-source proxy servers, which are the best for their speed, reliability, and load balancing:

  1. Nginx
  2. Apache Traffic Server
  3. Apache HTTP Server
  4. Pound
  5. Squid Proxy Server
  6. Varnish HTTP Cache
  7. HAProxy

Proxy Server Osi Layer

Proxy is the middle man in the client-server network. Depending on where the proxy is implemented, it can exist on multiple layers of the OSI model. That can be:

  1. Transport Layer (4th Layer in OSI Model)
  2. Session Layer (5th Layer in OSI Model)
  3. Application Layer (7th Layer in OSI Model)

Note: These days, the internet doesn’t work on OSI models!

Proxy Server Port Number

Proxy Server Port numbers are used to establish a connection between two computers.

A port number is a unique number assigned to each type of communication.

This number identifies the type of connection, whether it’s a TCP or UDP connection, and it also identifies the application that will be using the connection.

Proxy servers usually use port 80 to communicate with the webserver.

If you’re running a web hosting service, you can create a proxy server on port 80 for your clients.

In this case, the proxy server is the webserver, which is hosted by a web host.

The port number for a proxy server is typically between 0 and 65535. You’ll need to determine the port number for your proxy server based on your needs.

Proxy Server Port Number 8080

If you’re creating a proxy server for a web hosting service, you can use port 8080.

Proxy Server Vs Load Balancer

The proxy server is used to receive a request from the client device, deliver it to the server machine, and then send the response from the server to the client device.

The load balancer distributes client requests between a group of servers and then returns the certain server’s response to the relevant client device.

The above definition of the proxy server and load balancer clearly differentiate both.

A proxy server is used to transfer the data from client to server and from server to client, whereas, a load balancer distributes the data (request) received through a proxy server between multiple servers to balance the servers load and then sends back the data (response) through the proxy server, to the client device.

Proxy Server Vs Reverse Proxy

The forward proxy server is related to clients and the Reverse proxy server is related to servers.

The forward proxy server allows internal clients (e.g. office computers) to route the traffic to the external network (e.g. public internet).

The reverse proxy server works as a gateway between the clients and the servers while protecting the identity of servers that are processing the client’s requests.

Socks5 To HTTP Proxy

It is not possible to convert the socks5 proxy server to an HTTP proxy server, because both types are completely different from each other.

In past (before 2015) there was a tool called Polipo that could have done that (maybe) but that is discontinued now and there is no other option available.

Though you can search for Python script on the internet if that works!

What Does Proxy Server Do

A proxy server is a software program that allows you to browse the Internet through another computer or network device.

The purpose of a proxy server is to provide an additional layer of security when browsing the web.

By using a proxy server, you can protect yourself from malicious websites that may try to steal your information.

Proxy servers are commonly used by businesses to protect their sensitive data or to access sites that are blocked at the local level.

For example:

If you are a small business owner and you want to access the Google Analytics reporting tools on your website but your local ISP blocks Google Analytics, you can use a proxy server to bypass this ISP restriction.

What Does Proxy Server Not Responding Mean

If a proxy server does not respond, it may mean that the site you are trying to reach is either down or that the site is blocked at the network level.

If this is the case, you will have to find a different proxy to connect to.

If you are unable to find a different proxy, you can try connecting to the site from another computer.

If this doesn’t work either, there may be an issue with your computer or network.

If you are having problems with your network connection, consider contacting your network administrator or ISP for help.

What Happens If I Disable Proxy Server

If you disable the proxy server, you will not be able to connect to the internet anonymously.

Here are the things, which you won’t be able to do, if you will disable the proxy server:

  1. Protecting your online privacy
  2. Accessing sites blocked by your ISP
  3. Getting around firewalls
  4. Accessing sites with restricted content
  5. Avoiding throttling
  6. Accessing specific websites

What Is A Proxy Server Connection

A proxy server connections allows you to access the internet from a different IP address than the one you use to connect to the internet.

This way, you can bypass internet restrictions set up by your network administrator, such as blocking sites or apps or limiting your connection speed.

Proxy servers allow you to browse the internet anonymously by connecting to a website via another server somewhere else.

More precisely, the proxy server allows you to connect to the website through another server, rather than directly through your ISP’s server.

This can be beneficial when you want to surf the internet without raising suspicion.
